Gölemen Vineyards, Çay İçi Vineyards, Çakıl Arası Vineyards, Babıyan Vineyards received their life-giving water.

Approximately 2 million six hundred thousand square meters of vineyard area, including Gölemen vineyards, Çay İçi vineyards, Çakıl Arası vineyards, and Babıyan vineyards, are irrigated by snow and flood waters coming from the northeast of our district, from the slopes of Mount Erciyes, from the direction of Horasan Stream and Derindere, via the Erdebağ Canal.

The vineyards in these regions could be irrigated once or twice, if they were ready, through the Farmers' Property Protection Directorate's Meravlar (pastures) during the spring season.

For many years, service was received from the earthen irrigation canal between Tatyosun Dam and Çakıl. However, during the construction of the Develi ring road, the section of the Erdebağ water channel on the ring road was lowered by approximately 10 meters, and the water channel was cancelled. For four years, the vineyards of Gölemen, Çay içi, Çakıl arası, Babıyan, and Köşkpınar, which had not seen water, were facing the danger of drying up due to drought. Our Mayor Adem Şengül, as his first act after the election, went to the field and inspected the Erdebağ Canal and Tatyos Dam. Following his initiatives, he ensured that the Highways 6th Regional Directorate held a tender on September 9, 2024, for the construction of an aqueduct on the section of the canal carrying water to the Erdebağ canal that remains on the ring road.

Our Mayor Adem Şengül, stating that the melting snow waters give life to the soil through the aqueduct, “I would like to express my sincere thanks to our esteemed Governor Gökmen Çiçek, our members of parliament, and the 6th Regional Director of Highways Ahmet Bülent Büyük, who contributed to the realization of this important project for Develi. I wish it to be fruitful,” he stated.
