Develi Semi-Open Correctional Facility Project Included in the 2025 Investment Program
With the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Develi Semi-Open Penitentiary Project, was included in the 2025 investment program.
According to the decision published on page 364 of the January 15, 2025 Official Gazette, supplementary issue, a budget of 3,900,000,000 TL has been allocated for the Develi Agriculture-Based Semi-Open Penitentiary Project, which is targeted to be completed within 2 years (2025-2027). Our Mayor Adem Şengül stated that “With the approval of the General Directorate of National Real Estate dated 12.10.2023 and numbered 7559950, 240,129 square meters of the treasury land, which is 424,395 square meters in parcels 1-28 and 30 of block 508, has been allocated. The allocated land is; the entire 29,800 square meters of parcel 1 of block 508, parcel 508 The allocation of parcel number 30, plot 10,329 square meters, and parcel number 28, plot 508, plot 384,266.67 square meters, of which 200,000 square meters were allocated, were made. In the Open Penitentiary Institution, agriculture and animal husbandry are prioritized. Wheat, watermelon, corn, tomatoes, and fodder crops can be planted and produced on the allocated land on a rotational basis. The animal husbandry sector includes cattle, sheep, and chickens; the products produced are marketed to prisons in surrounding provinces. In addition, various courses are organized jointly with the District Public Education Center to reintegrate convicts into society.
