Following the 11th International “Adobe24” Conference held at Kayseri Nuh Naci Yazgan University on September 12-13, 2024, the “Adobe Workshop” application area in our Zile neighborhood was visited and the work done was examined on site.

The natural adobe and new generation adobe casting and adobe house construction event held in our Zile neighborhood was attended by our AK Party Kayseri Member of Parliament, Ms. Ayşe Böhürler, Develi District Governor Yusuf Turan, Mayor Adem Şengül, UNESCO Turkey Scientific Member and Conference President Prof. Dr. Bilge Işık, NNY University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department Vice President and Project Coordinator Dr. Lecturer Gözde Kuzu Dinçbaş, the authors of the 35 papers presented at the congress, NNY University students, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and Develi Municipality relevant department managers participated.

Participating in the events and making natural adobe with UNESCO representatives, students, and academics, AK Party Kayseri Member of Parliament Ayşe Böhürler made the following statement after the event: “Especially in our country, which is an earthquake-prone country, keeping traditional architecture and techniques alive is of great importance. I thank our academics who keep these techniques alive, the faculty members and students of our NNY University, our Develi Municipality, and everyone who contributed and participated. I also invite everyone who wants to examine these works on site to Zile Neighborhood in Develi.”

Develi District Governor Yusuf Turan; “I am very pleased that the International Adobe24 Congress’s application area is being held in Zile Neighborhood of our Develi District. I believe that the Adobe Congress contributes to keeping alive our values that are on the verge of being forgotten,” he said. Our Mayor Adem Şengül, drawing attention to the fact that Zile Neighborhood, with its adobe structures and natural beauties, could be a new destination area, stated, “I believe that the International Adobe24 Congress has made a great contribution to the promotion of Zile and our District. I would also like to thank the NNY University officials for this organization.” Aydan Özkan, who allocated the area as an adobe structure application area and covered all expenses with his own resources, also said in his speech; “In the Zile neighborhood of Develi District, a natural adobe structure was built using Zile soil and straw. After being left to ferment for one day, 3500 adobe bricks were produced in 15 days using wooden molds measuring 50x20x15 cm. This resulted in a 110 square meter (18x6 meter) adobe house, named the 1st application house, numbered 1, which was completed in 25 days. The doors of our house are open to everyone,” he said. Following the adobe applications, academics and students examined the 127 adobe houses in the Zile neighborhood that were included in the inventory.
